Thanks to one of our creative innovators we introduce a great example of how the UP Board can be used in an application. This is an open display Media Player Box that incorporates the UP Board.
It was back in January when we shipped out Innovator Kits to 50 of our innovators. Now, around 4 months down the line, we are quite excited to share one of the amazing outcomes from innovator Björn Reichert. It has a fresh new take to it, as compared to any of its preceding designs.
The UP Board has a key feature, unlike other maker boards, it does not need a separate USB hub to power the hard drive any longer. This means that any connected device is sure to be powered via the 3A @ 5V power supply. This makes it so compact that it can be transported around easily for ease of use; needless to say it makes this application even more convenient than before.
The UP Board is also much faster and better equipped than comparable single board computers. This means that it has full Gigabit Ethernet and a USB 3.0 micro-b port. It can be used as a mini NAS/Server too! Needless to say all this great power in a tiny board fits very well in the OpenDisplayCase Plexiglas® with its modular design.
We would like to say a huge thanks to Björn, because now we can see how a tiny yet powerful board like UP can bridge the gap and bring compact and advanced applications to its users!
