The UP Xtreme i12 Edge brings exceptional utility in both industrial automation and smart healthcare solutions.

AAEON once again helped two teams reach the finals of the Intel® DevCup for a chance at the NT$1 million prize. The Smart Automation team formed by AUO Corporation, and HackForHealth, from Rongguang Technology and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, both utilized the new UP Xtreme i12 Edge, powered by 12th Gen Intel® Core™ i7/i5/i3/Celeron® Processors, and its support for the Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ Toolkit to produce their applications.

AUO Corporation Teaches Old Robots New Tricks

Aims:

The Smart Automation team sought to tackle occupational safety risks that affect older automated industrial robots by developing an application that enabled the robots to autonomously detect and self-correct errors.

The Solution: A Seeing, Hearing, Decision-Making Robot

The application deployed the UP Xtreme i12 Edge alongside AUO Corporation’s SPIIDER intelligent IoT box to capture audio and visual data, which could then be analyzed by each component to produce an overall risk assessment. The UP Xtreme i12 Edge’s analysis was facilitated by inferencing models developed using the OpenVINO™ Toolkit, which in addition to the SPIIDER intelligent IoT box’s data return capability gave older industrial robots the ability to ‘see, hear, make decisions, and return control’.

HackForHealth Accelerates Aortic Aneurysm Detection with AI

Aims:

HackForHealth wanted to automate abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening with the goal of ensuring a greater number of at-risk patients could receive early detection and intervention for a potentially fatal medical condition.

The Solution: AI-Assisted Abdominal Ultrasounds

The UP Xtreme i12 Edge took real-time data fed from the ultrasound’s acoustic imaging camera, analyzed it using a real-time YOLO Instance Segmentation OpenVINO FP16 model running on OpenVINO Runtime, and then output an AAA Examination Report in 4K on a display via its HDMI 2.0 port. This would then provide the healthcare practitioner with key information such as image acquisition quality, the aorta’s maximal and average width, and recommendations based on its findings.
